Fifty-one U.S. Senators, led by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), have sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) following the FDA's recent approval of a new generic abortion drug. The senators are urging immediate action, including an end to mail-order policies for abortion drugs and reinstatement of previous safety measures while the FDA conducts its promised review on abortion drug safety.

The letter highlights concerns that abortion drugs have resulted in women and girls being sent to emergency rooms, with complications such as hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and even death. The senators criticize the Biden administration’s decision during the COVID-19 pandemic to remove in-person dispensing requirements for these medications, arguing that this allowed mail-order distribution without medical oversight or confirmation of who is ordering the drugs.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued a statement regarding the Senate action.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America describes itself as a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
