A federal appeals court has lifted an injunction that had blocked part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which aims to prevent taxpayer funding for abortion providers. The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a previous order from Massachusetts District Judge Indira Talwani, allowing the provision to take effect while the Trump administration’s appeal continues.

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States, challenged the law in court. The organization argued that abortion businesses have a constitutional right to receive taxpayer funds.

The panel of judges who made this decision were appointed by former President Joe Biden.
