Bellarmine University has launched a Dual Credit Institute, the school announced on August 5. The program is designed to provide high school students with greater access to college-level courses.
According to the university, the Dual Credit Institute will partner with public schools and Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic schools. Among those participating are Assumption High School, Holy Cross High School, Mercy Academy, and Presentation Academy.
The initiative allows students to earn college credit in subjects such as theology, biology, criminal justice, and education. Courses will be taught in high schools using instruction that aligns with college standards.
“We are proud to offer a dual credit experience that reflects the depth and excellence of a Bellarmine education,” said Dr. Mark Wiegand, Bellarmine’s vice president for academic affairs and provost. “This initiative was built in close collaboration with our faculty and school partners to ensure we are supporting students, elevating teaching, helping more young people see college as part of their future, and in many instances, accelerating students’ pathways to meaningful careers and service.”
