Revered Carl A. Kemme, D.D. Bishop | Diocese of Witchita
Although the final results of the One Family, Fully Alive in Christ! Campaign will be announced in September, the Diocese of Wichita is already witnessing early benefits from the initiative. In May, the first application period for the newly established In Love of God and Neighbor Fund grant program opened. A committee of lay volunteers reviewed applications, and Bishop Carl A. Kemme approved 23 grants totaling $103,000 to parishes and ministries across the diocese.
The grant process will continue with a new application window opening on November 1. The chancery has committed to distributing at least $100,000 each cycle.
Among the first recipients are Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Wichita and St. Anthony of Padua in Garden Plain. Both communities have unique needs but share a commitment to works of mercy.
Blessed Sacrament’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVdP) has seen a 70% increase in outreach activity since March, reflecting growing community needs. The fund's support allows them to continue their annual Thanksgiving feast while expanding aid to more families.
St. Anthony Pro Life Outreach in Garden Plain faces rising needs and costs as it supports children in difficult circumstances. With its grant, it can purchase bulk items for mothers and children without turning anyone away.
The In Love of God and Neighbor Fund aims to serve parish communities long-term through disciplined endowment management.
