Walsh University has announced the election of Barbara Yingling and Bruce Altieri to leadership positions on its Board of Directors. Yingling, a double alumna of Walsh University, will serve as Chair for a two-year term, while Altieri, a 1982 graduate, will take on the role of Vice-Chair for one year. Their terms begin on July 1, 2025.
University President Dr. Tim Collins highlighted the importance of their roles in advancing the institution's strategic plan known as Walsh 4.0. "Our Board of Directors comprises faithful, mission-driven leaders whose wisdom and service are vital to our continued transformation," said Collins. He emphasized that both Yingling and Altieri are accomplished professionals committed to the university's Catholic mission.
Yingling brings extensive experience from her career in healthcare, having served as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital until her retirement in 2022. Her involvement with Walsh University is longstanding; she earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s degree in Education Management there.
"My connection to Walsh University runs deep," Yingling stated. She expressed enthusiasm about leading during a time when higher education faces significant challenges such as increased competition and shifting demographics.
Altieri has been part of the Board since 2019 and is recognized for his business acumen and dedication to Walsh University's growth. "I’m grateful for and humbled by the opportunity to serve in this role," he said.
Joining them on the Board is Robert F. Behler, a retired U.S. Air Force Major General with expertise in computer security. Behler has held leadership roles at MITRE and SRC.
The university also expressed gratitude to outgoing Chair Carol Miller for her decade-long service.
