Missouri is set to become the first state to present voters with a pro-life amendment following the passage of a pro-abortion ballot measure. The Missouri Senate has approved a proposed constitutional amendment, House Joint Resolution 73, which aims to replace Amendment 3. This resolution seeks to protect life throughout pregnancy and includes exceptions for rape and incest during the first 12 weeks. It does not require the Governor's signature, but Missouri law allows Governor Mike Kehoe to decide when it will be presented to voters.

Recently, on April 30, the abortion lobby filed a lawsuit under Amendment 3 seeking to permit minor girls to obtain abortions without parental consent. This litigation was initiated by 'Right By You,' an organization that provides abortion access for pregnant minors through a text line. Previously, Planned Parenthood had also filed a lawsuit aiming to remove all regulations from their industry.

Amendment 3 was narrowly passed by 51% of Missouri voters in November after pro-abortion activists significantly outspent pro-life advocates at an 8:1 ratio.
