The Senate has approved legislation to reopen the federal government following a 41-day shutdown. The impasse was attributed to disagreements between Senate Democrats and Republicans over funding for abortions through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
According to Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, "SBA Pro-Life America opposes any funding of Obamacare that fails to include Hyde Amendment protections and will continue to score against any effort that forces Americans to pay for abortions. Last month, more than 100 pro-life groups sent a letter to Congress urging lawmakers to stop taxpayer funding of abortion through Obamacare."
SBA Pro-Life America called on the House of Representatives to pass similar legislation. The organization describes itself as a network with over one million members nationwide focused on electing leaders and advocating for laws aimed at ending abortion, particularly by supporting pro-life women in leadership roles.
