The School of Education at St. John's University held its annual awards ceremony on May 1, recognizing outstanding graduating students at Taffner Field House on the Queens, NY campus. The event celebrated both undergraduate and graduate students embarking on diverse educational careers.

Katherine Czado Aquino, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Innovation and Partnership and Associate Professor in the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership, welcomed attendees by emphasizing the significance of the ceremony. “This ceremony is more than a collection of awards—it is a tribute to the journey each of you has taken,” she stated. Dr. Aquino highlighted the perseverance required to complete challenging coursework and field experiences, noting the commitment to a profession that demands compassion and resilience.

The achievements of students pursuing various paths in education were acknowledged. Dr. Aquino noted, “Some of you may become classroom teachers, school counselors, administrators, researchers, policymakers, or advocates.” She stressed the shared belief in education's power to create opportunities and dismantle barriers.

Following her address, awards were distributed across four departments: Administrative and Instructional Leadership, Counselor Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Education Specialties.
