St. Peter School in Lincoln celebrated its third consecutive recognition as a "Superstar Catholic School" by Spirit Catholic Radio on April 8. The celebration also marked the groundbreaking of the school's new outdoor stations of the cross project.
The Superstar Catholic School recognition is awarded to schools demonstrating a strong Catholic identity, academic excellence, and a vibrant community life. "As part of the award, Jen Brown of Spirit Catholic Radio presented Curt Feilmeier, principal, with a certificate of $1,000 of on-air promotion for St. Peter School."
The outdoor stations of the cross project aims to provide students and visitors with a space for prayer and reflection, offering a way to engage with the Passion of Christ on the school grounds. Principal Curt Feilmeier commented, "This outdoor stations of the cross project will provide an opportunity for our school students (and all our parish members) to walk with Jesus and come to know further his love for us."
Sister Fiat Marie, C.K., presented Feilmeier with an award on behalf of the students, recognizing his dedication to instilling Catholic values at St. Peter School. "Instilling the values of our Catholic Faith in all those who walk through the doors of St. Peter Catholic School," she said.
The groundbreaking event was led by Father Eric Clark, pastor of St. Peter Parish. Participants were shown an initial design rendering of the stations, though more artistic details will be shared later. The project has already inspired financial support, including a $2,500 donation from an event attendee.
Looking ahead, St. Peter School plans to host the annual all-city Mass on Tuesday, Aug. 12, to commence the 2025–2026 school year. Bishop James Conley is anticipated to participate in the event, with hopes that the outdoor stations will be ready by then, allowing for a blessing by the Bishop.
