More Mercy is organizing a Catholic ecumenism workshop on Saturday, April 12, at North American Martyrs Parish Hall in Lincoln. The event is titled “How to pursue truth together with Christians of other faith traditions.”

Max Chapman, who founded More Mercy, a lay initiative, after working as a missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), leads the project. The initiative, which aims to “Restore Christian unity through Truth and Love,” has the full support of Bishop James Conley.

Chapman mentioned that More Mercy held an ecumenism workshop in December and received positive feedback, prompting requests for more sessions on specific topics. "We received a lot of positive feedback," Chapman said, "along with people asking us to lead future workshops on specific topics."

The upcoming April 12 event will provide participants with practical conversation templates on engaging in interfaith dialogues. The workshop will address questions such as “How do I start the conversation?” and "Why is the pursuit of Truth important for Christians and how can it be done in a way that is non-combative?"

Chapman encourages Christians from all faith traditions to attend the event. “If you have friends or family that you would like to engage in meaningful faith conversations with, this will hopefully be a great opportunity for you,” he said.

The workshop includes a free breakfast, with RSVPs encouraged. It will begin with mass at 9 a.m., followed by the workshop from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. Additional information is available at moremercylincoln.org, and questions can be directed to Chapman at 904-536-2359.
