Residents of Southwest Louisville will soon have a new early child care option with the opening of the Holy Cross Early Childhood Center this August. Holy Cross High School announced on March 19 that enrollment is now open for the center, which will be located at 5146 Dixie Highway on the school's campus.
According to a press release from Holy Cross, "The Holy Cross Early Childhood Center is opening to serve families in Southwest Louisville, providing a warm, enriching, and faith-filled environment where young children can grow and learn and thrive."
The building housing the new center previously served as a residence for brothers of Holy Cross who taught at Bishop David High School. This all-boys school operated from 1960 until it merged with Angela Merici High School for girls in 1984 to form what is now known as Holy Cross High.
The release further states, "As an integral part of the Holy Cross campus and its education mission, the early childhood center will provide a nurturing, faith-based environment for children ages six weeks to three years old during their most critical years of development."
Acknowledging the importance of early life stages, the center aims to support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth through a comprehensive program. The curriculum focuses on brain development and early learning while enhancing vocabulary development and language skills. Parent involvement is also encouraged.
Activities offered include music, outdoor exploration, and nature-based learning with "Jesus as a model," according to the release. An open house event is scheduled for April 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., allowing families to explore the facility and learn more about its offerings.
The center is currently seeking applicants for positions such as director, teachers, and assistant teachers. Additional information or enrollment details can be found at www.holycrosshs.com.
