The 12th Annual Leadership Symposium, organized by the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership (DAIL) within The School of Education (SOE), took place on March 8 at St. John’s University in Queens, New York. The event centered on the theme "Framing Gifted Education as Talent Development for All: A Critical Perspective for School Leaders."
Dr. Worrell highlighted the significance of the symposium, noting that it addressed concerns about how to best serve the nation's youth and support those with limited power and privilege in pursuing their dreams.
Approximately 200 attendees participated in the symposium, which included research presentations from 18 recent doctoral graduates from The School of Education. Additionally, five breakout sessions were led by local school principals and professors.
The symposium was initially established in 2013 under the guidance of James Reed Campbell, Ph.D., Professor of Administrative and Instructional Leadership. It continues today with leadership from Dr. Campbell alongside James D. Wolfinger, Ph.D., Dean of The School of Education; Stephen Kotok, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Chair of DAIL; as well as faculty, administrators, and staff from DAIL.
Weedens E. Blanchard ’94SVC, ’97MBA, ’07PD, ’17Ed.D., Principal at Holy Cross High School and Adjunct Assistant Professor at The School of Education, described the event as a “phenomenal day of learning and research.”
