The Catholic Education Foundation has embarked on an ambitious capital campaign to raise $100 million for tuition assistance. The initiative, titled "The Answer is Yes! For Everyone. Forever.", was publicly launched on March 18 at the foundation's 35th annual Salute to Catholic School Alumni event in Louisville.

During a five-year silent phase, the campaign secured $80 million in commitments from donors. Richard A. Lechleiter, president of the foundation, expressed appreciation for the support received from individuals and local businesses. "It’s a testament not only to individuals but to local businesses who are staunch supporters of Catholic education," Lechleiter stated.

The Archdiocese of Louisville has contributed $10 million towards this effort, as noted by Dr. Brian B. Reynolds, chancellor of the archdiocese. He highlighted the accessibility issue faced by families due to tuition costs despite Catholic education's effectiveness and service quality.

Reynolds shared his gratitude for contributions from people sharing a vision for expanding Catholic education: “I’m grateful for the tremendous amount of generosity, even from those who’ve never had children in Catholic schools.”

Lechleiter emphasized that local businesses recognize the value of supporting Catholic schools as community assets important for workforce development.

Joe Dougherty, chair-elect of the foundation’s board and current chair of the campaign, stressed that donations help needy families afford education which positively impacts students' lives and community trajectories.

Dougherty noted that while significant progress has been made with "tremendous success," completing the final 20 percent will be challenging: “We need everyone’s help to close out the campaign.” The goal is to conclude by late 2026.
