Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in Indiana is set to host the Cyprian Davis Lecture on March 27 at 7 p.m. CDT in the St. Bede Theater. The event will feature Father Josh Johnson, a priest from the Diocese of Baton Rouge and host of Ascension Press' podcast "Ask Fr. Josh." He will present a lecture titled "Making Disciples of All Nations."
According to a press release from St. Meinrad, Father Johnson aims to "encourage all Catholics to recommit themselves to building a church here on earth that reflects the rich ethnic diversity of the body of Christ 'as it is in heaven.'" The presentation will draw upon scripture, personal experiences, and testimonies from notable figures within the Catholic Church. It seeks to inspire attendees by emphasizing their mission to integrate "all tribes and peoples" into the body of Christ.
The lecture series honors Benedictine Father Cyprian Davis, who was a professor of church history at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. His book, “The History of Black Catholics in the United States,” is described as "the essential study of the American Black Catholic experience," according to the release.
This event is free and open to everyone interested. Parking facilities are available at St. Bede Hall and in designated student parking areas. For further details, individuals can contact Krista Hall at 812-357-6501 during business hours.
