Parents and community members gathered for the Special Needs Mass on February 9, led by Father Martin Nguyen. "On behalf of Mother Church, thank you for loving your children into being because you share that love from God and make it all the more special," he expressed during his homily.

The Mass, initiated by Father Nguyen two years ago at Holy Family Parish, was relocated to an outdoor pavilion at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando this year to enhance accessibility. Father Nguyen recounted a personal story about his youngest aunt with special needs and reflected on his teenage years when he was not always patient or kind to her. He shared how his perspective changed over time: "Thankfully the good Lord changed my heart for the better and I was able to redeem myself. Now I have become the favorite nephew."

His experiences with students who have special needs have deepened his appreciation, prompting him to advocate for greater awareness. "These children love very purely," he said. "And when they love, they truly love." He praised the families and caretakers for their dedication: "You are the most beautiful testimony about what the Church believes about the sanctity of human life."

Bishop John Noonan also spoke at the event, recalling his childhood friendship with Peter, whose sister had special needs. This experience influenced him as bishop of the Diocese of Orlando to ensure inclusion in Masses and Sacraments for individuals with special needs. He emphasized that these events focus on "their sharing their gifts with us."

Former Morning Star students participated in various roles during the Mass. Courtney, a 2008 graduate who assisted Bishop Noonan, described her involvement as "awesome" and an honor.

Winnie Muszynski and Ann Pollasek were recognized for their long-term support as founders of the Women's Auxiliary supporting Morning Star Catholic School. They continue their advocacy well into their nineties and beyond.

Lizette Roman, assistant principal at St. Andrew Catholic School, thanked them personally. Her son attends Morning Star after a long search for suitable education options: "Mom, I love it here," he told her upon visiting Morning Star's campus.
