Sixty students recently participated in Walsh University's annual AGAPE Retreat, an event dedicated to enhancing faith, fostering community, and achieving peace through spiritual surrender. This retreat aligns with the university's Catholic mission and the "Year of Community," which aims to strengthen connections among students, staff, and the broader community.
The retreat was organized by student directors Luke Goers and Meghan Murphy. Claire Corridoni ’18, Director of Campus Ministry, commended their leadership. “Luke and Meghan rose to every occasion,” said Corridoni. “They prayed before every speaker, facilitated games, and kept the leadership team on track, all while fostering a strong sense of community.”
This event was particularly significant for Corridoni as it was her first retreat as Director of Campus Ministry. A Walsh alumna and former Blouin Scholar, she expressed her enthusiasm about returning to serve at Walsh University. “Returning to Walsh as the Director of Campus Ministry feels like coming home,” she shared.
Participants engaged in three talks led by Corridoni and students Matt Voegele and Amelia Freeman. The weekend also included activities such as pumpkin painting for women and gaga pit battles for men. Worship sessions led by Leah Grezanik, Joe Cochran, and Noah Bott provided opportunities for reflection.
Father Albert Trudel, O.P., University Chaplain, celebrated Mass followed by a spaghetti dinner. A central theme of the retreat was understanding that surrendering to God involves trusting in His greater plan.
Feedback from attendees was positive; one participant described it as “my favorite AGAPE so far.” Another attendee mentioned finding peace during the weekend.
Overall, the AGAPE Retreat offered spiritual renewal and reinforced unity within Walsh University's Catholic community.
