Rev. James D. Conley, D.D., S.T.L. | Diocese of Lincoln website
Bishop James Conley invites the public to an outdoor Corpus Christi Mass and Eucharistic procession on Sunday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Waverly Catholic Center.
“Encountering Christ in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is an invitation for all people to deepen their relationship with the Lord,” Bishop Conley stated. “In adoration, we grow in unity and friendship with him—we learn to hear his voice, to know his will, and, most especially, to know and trust the power of his love.”
The event marks the conclusion of a year commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Catholic Center. The center includes the Marian Sisters’ Marycrest Motherhouse, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House, and Villa Marie Home and School.
Limited seating will be available for the outdoor Mass at the bell tower. Participants are invited to join a Eucharistic procession around the grounds of the Catholic Center, with stops at key locations including the Marian Sisters’ motherhouse and Villa Marie School. The procession will conclude at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House.
Post-Mass activities include bounce houses, games for children and adults, food trucks, and a display on Eucharistic Miracles provided by Spirit Catholic Radio.
While RSVPs are not required but appreciated for planning purposes regarding chairs and food preparation. Interested attendees can RSVP at goodcounselretreat.regfox.com/corpus-christi. Volunteers are also needed; inquiries can be directed via email.
The national Eucharistic Revival is a three-year initiative by U.S. Bishops aimed at strengthening belief in the Eucharist as the Real Presence of Jesus Christ’s Body and Blood. Corpus Christi is celebrated with Eucharistic processions as a sign of faith to adore and worship Jesus in His Body and Blood.
During this period of Eucharistic Revival, Bishop Conley encourages all Catholics to participate in a Corpus Christi procession either at Waverly Catholic Center or within their parishes.
“Kneeling before Christ in the Eucharist, all of us find love,” he said.
