South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster signed House Bill 4624 today, which prohibits the prescription of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or surgeries to minors for the purpose of attempting to alter their sex. South Carolina becomes the 24th state to enact such a law.
In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released a statement praising the new law: "The transgender industry’s days are numbered—that is now clear. More and more research is appearing showing the devastating harm being perpetrated under the name of ‘gender medicine.’ Momentum is picking up worldwide in favor of protecting children from these destructive procedures. And here in the U.S., lawmakers are increasingly recognizing the need for decisive action to end this horrific malpractice."
Schilling further added, "Governor McMaster and South Carolina lawmakers have taken an important stand today for their state’s families, and we applaud them for joining the many other states addressing this issue. We further urge legislators in the remaining states without such safeguards, as well as policymakers in Washington, to take immediate steps to ensure children are protected nationwide. Those who do not act now will be forever remembered for their cowardice in the face of this historic medical scandal."
