Marian University Professor Paulo Castro recently hosted a remarkable collaboration with the Rio Grande Brazil Student Orchestra, showcasing the power of music to transcend borders and unite individuals. The orchestra, known as OJRS, from Brazil, was sponsored by the sister cities organization 'Partner of the Americas' to visit Indianapolis as part of their international awards program. Professor Castro shared, "It all began when the OJRS from Brazil embarked on a journey to Indianapolis... a testament to the transformative power of music education."

During their visit, Marian University became a pivotal local sponsor, offering enriching experiences for both the visiting musicians and the university's students and faculty. Professor Castro mentioned, "Amidst the excitement of hosting this talented ensemble, I was approached... to have the orchestra arrange and perform one of my compositions during their tour." He selected 'Paz' (Peace), a song crafted as a plea for peace through melody, which was orchestrated by the OJRS for a performance at Marian’s Bishop Chartrand Chapel.

The performance of 'Paz' was a powerful moment where the transformative power of music was witnessed, transcending cultural barriers and touching the hearts of all who listened.
