Reverend Larry Silva, Bishop | Diocese of Honolulu
The Bishop, in his Homily for Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday, reflected on the events following Jesus' death, highlighting the different reactions in hell, on earth, and in heaven.
"There was a fever pitch of rejoicing in hell!" the Bishop emphasized, describing the demons' delight in the death of God himself and their satisfaction in the chaos they had caused.
On earth, he spoke of the varied responses to Jesus' death, from those who rejoiced in his silence to those who felt guilt and shame for their actions. The Bishop underscored the significance of Jesus' resurrection, stating, "God had recreated the world by raising his only begotten Son from the dead."
Reflecting on the present day, the Bishop noted, "There is still some rejoicing in hell, because we people simply forget who we are." He urged for a renewal of faith and a rejection of darkness and betrayal.
Concluding his Homily, the Bishop emphasized the eternal presence of Jesus and the importance of bringing light to the world. He encouraged all to proclaim, "Alleluia!" as a testament to their faith and commitment to living in the light of God.
