Walsh University's newest partnership with the City of North Canton has marked a significant milestone as the inaugural member of Walsh’s Partners Program. Under the leadership of Mayor Stephan B. Wilder, the collaboration between the university and the city highlights a shared commitment to advancing education and professional development within the local community.
President Tim Collins expressed his excitement during the official signing ceremony at Walsh University’s Toot Global Learning Center, stating, “This moment is long overdue. We perceive Walsh University as a valuable asset for the entire community and region. We look forward to welcoming you, your staff, the council and all citizens. On behalf of all of us at the University, thank you.”
Mayor Wilder echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of partnering with Walsh University, stating, “It makes perfect sense for us to partner with Walsh University, our esteemed hometown institution. Walsh has long been a beacon of excellence in education, fostering innovation and community engagement. The forward-thinking Partners Program offers our dedicated employees – the very individuals who serve and advocate for our community – the chance to pursue advanced degrees or certificates at Walsh. By investing in their career growth, we’re laying the groundwork for a brighter future for North Canton and its residents.”
The newly established Walsh University Partners Program aims to cultivate symbiotic relationships that address specific community needs while enriching the educational journey of its students. Through discounted tuition rates, the program empowers employees to pursue higher education and degree completion, enhancing their skills and professional growth.
As part of the partnership with the City of North Canton, various initiatives will be implemented, including hosting one city council meeting per year at Walsh University, formalizing internship programs for Walsh students, and providing city staff as guest lecturers for academic programs. Rebecca Coneglio, Vice President for Enrollment Management, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to engage with the City of North Canton to showcase the incredible potential of our program. By extending exclusive opportunities and discounted tuition rates, we aim to empower businesses and organizations in our community and beyond to invest in the growth and development of their workforce.”
While the focus is currently on local partnerships, the program has the potential for national expansion. With online program offerings removing geographical barriers, Walsh University envisions a future where the Partners Program transcends local boundaries, creating educational and professional opportunities on a national scale.
