The St. Louis IX Art Society is set to host a Lenten mission chamber concert at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs. The event, scheduled for March 18, will feature liturgical preaching, sacred music, and Eucharistic adoration, and is open to the public free of charge.
"We felt called to create a parish event that could provide a deeply contemplative experience of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with the help of sacred music and liturgically-based preaching," said Jordan Haddad, co-founder and president of The St. Louis IX Art Society.
The theme of the concert, "I Desire Mercy," is inspired by scripture and aims to promote devotion to Divine Mercy and Eucharistic Adoration. ICC Pastor Father Matthew Graham explained that the theme is based on Matthew 9:10-13, where Christ emphasizes the importance of mercy over sacrifice.
James Rosenbloom, a parish music director, has curated and will direct the sacred music for the concert, which will be accompanied by three short sermons. Haddad highlighted that the music selection and performances are focused on delving deeper into Christ's suffering, death, and the Christian experience of repentance and humility.
The St. Louis IX Art Society, a Catholic apostolate, is dedicated to supporting and celebrating transcendent beauty through various art forms. The society's mission is to create spaces where sacred music, like beautiful Church art and architecture, can elevate the soul towards God.
Attendees of past Lenten and Advent missions organized by the society have described them as profound experiences of prayer unlike any other outside of the Mass itself.
