Marian University Board of Trustees member Eddie Rivers has been honored with the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award. This accolade, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Governor of Indiana, recognizes individuals for their outstanding service and dedication to the state. The award was presented to Rivers by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, with Fisher's Mayor Scott Fadness also in attendance.
Reflecting on the honor, Rivers expressed his surprise and gratitude, stating, "It was a major surprise and honor to receive the Sagamore of the Wabash. The surprise presentation was extra special, especially the fact that the mayor and my entire family shared the stage!" The Sagamore of the Wabash award holds a special significance within the community, as the term "sagamore" is derived from Native American tribes in the northeastern United States, referring to a trusted and wise member of the tribe chosen by the chief.
Rivers' dedication and hard work in community events have made a significant impact on his community. He remarked, "I didn't plan on working in this field to gain praise and awards, but this award has become a major payback for my past and, more importantly, further motivation to do more in the future!"
Rivers' recognition as a Sagamore of the Wabash is a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving others. Through his role on the Marian University Board of Trustees and his involvement in community initiatives, he has made a positive difference in the lives of many.
The Sagamore of the Wabash award is a symbol of excellence and a source of inspiration for individuals across Indiana. It serves as a reminder of the impact that dedicated individuals can have on their communities. Rivers' achievement is a true reflection of his passion and dedication, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.
