Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre has been announced as the presenter for the Cyprian Davis Lecture, which will take place at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Ind., on February 8th. The lecture, titled "Equal to Us: The Church Responds to Racism," will be held at the St. Bede Theater at 7 p.m. CDT.

The Cyprian Davis Lecture is an annual event that honors the memory of Benedictine Father Cyprian Davis, who was a renowned professor of church history at St. Meinrad. Father Davis is best known for his groundbreaking book, "The History of Black Catholics in the United States," which is considered a seminal work on the experience of Black Catholics in America.

As a founding member of the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus and a contributor to the 1979 pastoral letter on racism published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Father Davis played a significant role in addressing issues of racism within the Church. His contributions continue to inspire and guide the Church's response to racism.

Archbishop Fabre, who currently serves as the Archbishop of New Orleans, is a highly respected leader within the Catholic Church. His selection as the presenter for the Cyprian Davis Lecture highlights his expertise and dedication to addressing the issue of racism.
