National Democrats and others on the left are funneling money into Kansas in an effort to defeat the Value Them Both amendment.
Most notably is U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her campaign to stop Value Them Both.
“Kansas protects the right to an abortion now — but a measure on the ballot 8/2 would eliminate it & leave a huge reproductive health desert in the middle of the country," Warren posted on Twitter recently. "Chip in to @Kansans4Freedom if you can to fight back: ewar.ren/r7d Vote NO if you’re in Kansas."
In her efforts to campaign against the amendment, Warren has targeted Kansans through email, text and social media. She is joined by Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been traveling the country in support of pro-abortion groups.
Harris has said that the Justice Department should use the Voting Rights Act approach on laws related to reproductive rights.
"We have to stand together in this fight, right — those of us who understand what's at stake,” she told NPR.
In her first interview after the U.S. Supreme Court's decision, Harris also questioned the makeup of the Court.
“This is profound,” Harris told CNN regarding the decision. “And the way that this decision has come down, has been so driven, I think, by the politics of the issue versus what should be the values that we place on freedom and liberty in our country.”
