Our Lady of the Valley Church in Birmingham, Alabama shared a gospel meditation on the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
God invites us to a rich and full life. In fact, everything is all prepared, all that is left to do is hear the call and come to the Lord, the meditation stated.
“There is so much to attend to in the everydayness of our lives. We have plans, after all. There is never enough time and so much that needs to be done,” the reflection stated.
Between work, our responsibilities and families, we often lack the time and mental space to think of giving even a fraction of our busy lives over to God.
“I need another party and commitment like a hole in the head. I can’t manage what I already have, and someone is asking me to do more. Seriously? I saw the invitation. I think it came in the mail the other day. Did I leave it on the table? Oh way, it may have gotten thrown away,” the meditation stated.
Before we know it, though, our busy lives will slow down and our families will grow up, leaving us with nothing but free time to think of how we should have spent our lives.
Lest we regret the way that we have spent the precious time we are given, let us be certain to turn our hearts and minds to the Lord before it is too late.
“I am finally discovering that life is not about me and my world. I think I’ve ignored the God who made me and the God who is the reason for my life, my hope and my joy. It’s always been about me. I have really not discovered Eternal Love,” the reflection stated.
The good news, however, is that the invitation is still open, all we have to do is accept it.
