BenU professor wins prestigious Midwestern literature award

Benedictine University Professor Wilson Chen, PhD, and co-author Maggie Morris Davis, PhD, have been recognized by the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature (SSML). They received the 2025 David D. Anderson Award for Outstanding Essay in Midwestern Literary Studies.

Their essay titled “Recovering the Worker in Meridel Le Sueur’s Worker Writers (1939/1982)” was selected as the top scholarly essay in this field for the year. The award comes with a $1,000 prize and an invitation to deliver a plenary talk at SSML's annual conference held at Michigan State University's Kellogg Center.
