Long-married couples mark significant anniversaries

Mr. and Mrs. John Mattingly, who are members of St. Peter the Apostle Church, will mark their 40th wedding anniversary on April 26. Mrs. Mattingly, known as Diane Brown before her marriage, is retired from Stock Yards Bank, and Mr. Mattingly is a retired printer.

Another couple, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dawson, who belong to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, will reach their 60th wedding anniversary on May 1. Mrs. Dawson, formerly Jean Reasor, retired after nearly two decades with Louisville Gas and Electric. Mr. Dawson, who also worked at Louisville Gas and Electric, retired after a career spanning 34 years. They have two children and six grandchildren.

Chuck and Lillie Mitchell, parishioners of St. Athanasius Church, are also celebrating their 60th anniversary on May 1. Mrs. Mitchell is a homemaker, and Mr. Mitchell retired from Ford Motor Co. where he worked as a plumber/pipefitter. The Mitchells are parents to three children and have eight grandchildren.
