Walsh University has been awarded the Gold-level designation as a Military Friendly School for the 2024-2025 academic year. This accolade underscores the university's commitment to aiding student veterans and their families, providing them with exceptional educational programs, resources, and services. The initiative is overseen by Veteran Affairs Coordinator Joshua Ruiz, who served as a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
The Military Friendly designation is granted based on evaluations from public data sources and responses to a proprietary survey conducted by VIQTORY. This year, over 1,800 institutions participated in the survey, with only 537 earning special awards for surpassing the standard. To receive the Gold-level recognition, institutions must achieve an overall survey score above 41% or meet a minimum of five qualifying benchmarks in areas such as student retention, graduation rates, job placement, loan repayment, and veterans' specific outcomes.
"Earning the Gold-level Military Friendly School designation reflects our deep commitment to those who have served and recognizes the extraordinary value our military students bring to Walsh University,” expressed President Tim Collins. “We believe their leadership and determination enrich our entire campus community. By providing comprehensive resources and unwavering support, we honor their service, foster their remarkable potential, and empower them to fulfill their purpose, a cornerstone of our Catholic educational mission."
“It’s an honor to serve those who have served. We walk alongside our military students and their families every step of their educational journey,” said Joshua Ruiz, Veteran Affairs Coordinator. “Being recognized as a Gold-level Military Friendly School affirms Walsh’s mission to empower them to succeed both in the classroom and beyond."
Walsh University provides a wide range of programs to support military-affiliated students, which include financial aid through the Yellow Ribbon Program and Armed Forces Tuition Assistance funding. The university also follows the VA’s Principles of Excellence, delivering personalized support through the Center for Veteran Affairs.
