Christian Brothers University (CBU) students from the Civil Engineering and Construction Management programs demonstrated strong performances at the Mid-South American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Symposium. This event was hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and featured top engineering schools from around the region, including the University of Arkansas, the University of Memphis, Tennessee Tech, and Vanderbilt University, among others.
CBU's students achieved notable successes, securing advancement to two national competitions slated for summer 2025. The students performed well in several challenging events, with key highlights as follows:
In the Land Surveying Competition, CBU clinched 1st place overall, earning a national qualifier spot. In the Steel Bridge Competition, they achieved 2nd place in Construction Economy, 2nd place in Construction Speed, and 2nd place in Cost Estimation, culminating in a 3rd place overall finish, thereby qualifying for nationals.
Dr. Andrew Assadollahi, Dean of CBU's Gadomski School of Engineering, expressed pride in the students' accomplishments. “These students exemplify the technical skill, creativity, and teamwork that define our Civil Engineering and Construction Management programs,” he stated. “We’re incredibly proud of their well-deserved success.”
The presence of Dr. Assadollahi’s seven-month-old daughter, Eileen, added a personal touch to the symposium as she attended her first Steel Bridge Competition.
Graduates of CBU’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management programs continue to enjoy strong career earnings, with starting salaries averaging over $70,000, and some exceeding $90,000 at graduation.
The university community eagerly anticipates supporting them as they proceed to the national stage.
