Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia

Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez is set to visit Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Bucks County, to lead a Mass for the school community. During the ceremony, he will place the institution under the patronage of Blessed Carlo Acutis. Reverend Stephen P. DeLacy, overseeing Faith Formation for Youth and Adults for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will also participate in the celebration. Deacon Stephan A. Guckin, serving as the school's Campus Minister, will assist in the liturgical aspects of the event.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Archbishop Wood High School, located at 655 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974, at 8:30 a.m.

Blessed Carlo Acutis, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 15, will become the first saint from the Millennial Generation. Known for his endeavors in using technology to promote faith and devotion towards the Eucharist, he continues to serve as a source of inspiration for young people. Following Pope Francis’ announcement in November 2024, regarding Acutis' upcoming canonization, Archbishop Pérez expressed his sentiments. Blessed Carlo's canonization is set for April 27, 2025, occurring during the Jubilee for Adolescents in Rome from April 25 to April 27, 2025.

Archbishop Wood High School announced on March 31 that Blessed Carlo Acutis would become the school's new Patron Saint. Founded in September 1964, the institution provides a comprehensive and spiritually enriched education, aiming to prepare students to navigate and contribute responsibly in a modern world dominated by technological advancements. The school, located in Warminster Township, was named in honor of Most Reverend James F. Wood, the first Archbishop of Philadelphia. Initially opened as separate facilities for boys and girls, it became a coeducational institution in July 1990.
