Dr. Timothy J. Collins, President | Walsh University

Walsh University is preparing to say farewell to its University Chaplain, Father Guy Albert Trudel, O.P., a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph. Father Trudel, who has held the position since June 2023, will leave at the end of the academic year due to reassignment by his Order.

Father Trudel succeeded Dominican Father Louis Bertrand Lemoine, O.P., who was reassigned to a monastery in Vermont. During his tenure at Walsh University, Father Trudel is noted for strengthening the Catholic presence on campus and promoting Catholic social teachings. He also guided students in their spiritual journey and contributed to the campus community through active sacramental and liturgical events.

President Tim Collins acknowledged Father Trudel's contributions, stating, “Father Albert has faithfully served the students and our community with the hallmarks of a Dominican presence: “to praise, to bless, and to preach!” His commitment to our Catholic mission and ability to connect with students has been invaluable. We wish him well in his new role and are grateful for the lasting impact he has made on our campus community.”

Father Trudel will move on to Providence College, where he will serve as a full-time faculty member. The university is founded by the Dominican Order and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.

Walsh University expressed gratitude for Father Trudel’s service and extended best wishes for his new assignment. The announcement of a new University Chaplain, set to take over on July 1, 2025, will be made shortly.
