Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
The Ursuline Sisters of Louisville have collaborated with Sacred Heart Schools' Office of Catholic Identity and Ursuline Charism to introduce a virtual pilgrimage, coinciding with the Jubilee Year and Catholic Sisters Week from March 8 to 14.
This digital initiative marks the 500th anniversary of St. Angela Merici’s journey to Rome. The foundress of the Ursulines is depicted as a young anime-inspired character in this virtual experience.
Participants can explore five historical sites, starting with the Ursuline Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Louisville. Each location offers videos featuring narration by Ursuline Sisters that discuss its significance and pose questions for reflection.
According to a release from the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, the project underscores “the continuing relevance of St. Angela’s spiritual journey in today’s world.”
Kathy Williams, director of communications for the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, stated that this resource “connects our spiritual heritage with modern technology in a virtual pilgrimage.”
Although designed for educational purposes within Ursuline-sponsored institutions and schools in the Ursuline Education Network, it is accessible to the general public at ursulinesisterslouisville.org/walkwithangela.
