Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, is set to visit Saint Edmond’s Home for Children for a prayer service and facility tour. The event will also be attended by Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, retired Archbishop of Philadelphia. Saint Edmond’s is part of the Developmental Programs Division of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

The visit is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The itinerary includes a prayer service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., followed by a tour from 1:20 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the home located at 320 South Roberts Road in Rosemont, Pennsylvania.

After the tour, Archbishop Pérez will join staff and residents for light refreshments.

Saint Edmond’s Home for Children was founded in Rosemont by Archbishop Edmond Prendergast in 1916 to assist children affected by polio. Initially located in Philadelphia and managed by the Sisters of Bon Secours, it was the first Catholic home of its kind in America. Today, it serves as a residential home for children and young adults with severe intellectual and physical disabilities, offering comprehensive services and care for those up to age 21.
