Revered Carl A. Kemme, D.D. Bishop | Diocese of Witchita
The "One Family, Fully Alive in Christ!" campaign has reached a significant milestone, with over $29 million pledged by more than 3,750 individuals and families. This achievement marks the halfway point towards the campaign's goal to support parishes, schools, outreach ministries, and Camp Kapaun across the diocese.
Bishop Kemme attributes this success to the efforts of pastors, parish volunteers, and lay leaders who have contributed their time and talents. Over 400 individuals have been involved in leading this initiative within their communities.
Father J.D. Betzen from St. Patrick in Chanute and St. Joseph in Humboldt expressed his appreciation for his parishioners' early response: “Our parishioners have eagerly embraced this campaign... It’s inspiring to see their faith in action as they invest in the future of our Church."
The second wave of parish appeals began in October and is concluding this month. The 31 Wave Two parishes have shown a generous response similar to Wave One. Volunteers are actively engaging with parishioners to share the campaign’s vision and answer questions.
During the Christmas season, these efforts aim to strengthen parish bonds through shared events and moments of faith. Father Clay Kimbro from St. Mary in Oxford and Holy Name in Winfield highlighted the spiritual opportunities presented by the campaign: “This campaign has been a wonderful opportunity to share... It’s a time to extend not only an invitation to support this campaign but also an invitation to deepen their relationship with Christ."
Looking forward, another 37 parishes will launch their campaigns involving over 21,000 parishioners. Preparations include recruiting volunteers and identifying projects for funding.
As the new year begins, there is optimism about achieving the campaign's goals and building a stronger Church for future generations.
