Walsh University has announced the appointment of Jami Swain as Vice President for Human Resources. Swain, an alumna from the class of 2012, steps into this role with immediate effect. She previously served as Director of Human Resources and Culture since October 2023 and brings over two decades of experience in human resources and organizational development.

President Tim Collins commented on Swain's contributions to the university: “Since joining Walsh University over a year ago, Jami has embodied the values that define our campus community and has made meaningful contributions to our culture.” He added, “With her deep institutional knowledge and forward-thinking leadership, Jami is uniquely positioned to advance Walsh University’s mission and shape its future by supporting and promoting our people, culture, and community.”

In her new position, Swain will be integral in directing the strategic path of Walsh University. As part of the President’s Cabinet, she will work alongside other leaders to further institutional goals such as the Walsh 4.0 strategy. This initiative aims at fostering innovation, improving workplace culture, and aligning organizational objectives with the changing needs of students, faculty, staff, and the wider university community.

Swain was honored in 2023 with Crain’s Cleveland Business Excellence in HR Award for Employee Experience and Retention. Her career includes leadership roles at The City Mission, Stark Community Foundation, and The Salvation Army’s Summit County Area Services.

Swain holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on human resources from Walsh University. She completed her Master of Labor Relations and Human Resources (MLRHR) at Cleveland State University in August 2024. A certified Society for Human Resource Management professional (SHRM-CP), she actively participates in SHRM both nationally and locally through organizations like the Stark County Human Resource Association (SCHRA). Additionally, she is involved with the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

In her capacity as Vice President for Human Resources at Walsh University—a faith-based independent institution—Swain will continue to lead efforts in human resources strategy, organizational development, and cultural enhancement.
