The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies has announced two five-week courses set to begin on January 6 and end on February 5. These courses will be accessible in person, live online, and through recorded video sessions.
One of the courses, titled “The Mother of the Word: A Biblical Study of Mary,” aims to explore how Scripture reveals the Mother of the Word. Joshua Burks will lead this course, which examines various Old Testament passages that illuminate Mary's role and presence. The course will also consider every New Testament reference to Mary, highlighting how these references build upon Old Testament insights. Classes are scheduled for Wednesdays from January 8 to February 5, between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Another offering is “Scripture and Ministry in an Apostolic Age,” a capstone course designed for students enrolled in Emmaus’ three-year “Creation to New Creation” program. This course focuses on equipping students to apply biblical teachings in their vocations, parishes, schools, and other settings. It emphasizes the importance of Scripture in the Church’s mission and prepares participants for teaching the Bible effectively. Vern Steiner, Chad Steiner, and Joshua Burks will jointly teach this class on Mondays from January 6 to February 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
