Deacon Harry S. Walker, a long-serving deacon of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Ordained by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk on September 28, 1991, Deacon Walker dedicated 33 years to his role as a permanent deacon within the Archdiocese.

Initially assigned to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Cincinnati upon his ordination, he was later reassigned in 2001 to St. Columban Parish where he continued his service until his passing.

In recognition of their contributions to community relations, Deacon Harry and his wife Peg were honored with the Community Service Award by the National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ), Greater Cincinnati Region in 1992. The award acknowledged their “outstanding contributions to the improvement of intergroup relations in the community.”

Deacon Walker's wife of 68 years, Margaret "Peg" Walker, died earlier this year on January 24. He is survived by seven children and their spouses, nineteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Their son James Paul Walker predeceased him in 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Columban Catholic Church located at 894 Oakland Rd., Loveland, OH. Visitation will occur prior to the Mass from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM.

The full obituary can be found on the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home website.

The archdiocese requests prayers for Deacon Harry Walker's soul and for peace and consolation for his family during this time.
