Men and women from The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence, part of the Developmental Programs Division of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, are preparing for their annual family Christmas celebration. This traditional event will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania.

The gathering is expected to host over 400 individuals, including those served by DGDP along with their families and caregivers. Supporters and benefactors of the program have also been invited to join in the festivities.

Activities planned for the event include performances of Christmas carols by the Saint Francis of Assisi School Choir from Delaware County, dancing, a seated luncheon, gift distribution, and a visit from Santa Claus. The celebration is supported by donations and volunteer efforts from both corporate entities and individuals.

"The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence (DGDP) are dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities," states an editor's note accompanying information about the event. "Dedicated staff and volunteers provide a continuum of care offering a wide range of programming options including: Community and Campus-Based Living Arrangements, Life Sharing Through Family Living, Respite Care, and Day Programs."
