Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan | Archdiocese of New York

The Good Newsroom, a digital news platform for the Archdiocese of New York, will provide coverage of the upcoming Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations. This marks the third consecutive year that the newsroom is covering this significant event. The past coverage has been recognized by the Catholic Media Association, including an award for Best Multimedia Package Series.

This year's articles and videos will be accessible through various channels such as a website, app, social media, and e-newsletter. A dedicated page on their website ensures easy access to these stories. Educational content has also been created to highlight the significance of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who appeared to Saint Juan Diego 493 years ago.

St. Bernard parish on 14th Street in Manhattan is hosting numerous events related to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Reporters will cover key events like the Vigil Mass at St. Bernard and the annual "Traditional Mañanitas" at Saint Patrick's Cathedral on December 11th evening. The "Traditional Mañanitas" includes mariachi performances and traditional Mexican dance.

On December 12th, the feast day for Our Lady of Guadalupe, a morning procession from St. Bernard to Saint Patrick's Cathedral is expected to attract thousands of participants in New York City streets. Artemio Silva, President of the Guadalupe Committee which organizes this procession, plays a key role in these activities.

His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m., with Bishop Francisco Figueroa Cervantes from Mexico delivering the homily at Saint Patrick's Cathedral. The service is anticipated to fill the cathedral and will be livestreamed online.

Cardinal Dolan remarked on this occasion: “We celebrate over 20 Masses for different Hispanic traditions at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral throughout the year. The upcoming Our Lady of Guadalupe is our largest, and one of our most joy-filled occasions to celebrate with all the parishioners and visitors who join us that day. Everyone is welcome.”

Jamie Lucero serves as president both for Casa Puebla—a nonprofit aiding Hispanic immigrants—and for the Archdiocese’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Committee in New York. His organization sponsors several events during these celebrations including sponsoring a prayer card mass and he personally invites everyone: “This is an event for everyone to attend... but everyone can process with us,” he said.

The Good Newsroom continues its mission to strengthen New York's Catholic community with daily publications across diverse topics while ensuring Spanish-language content accessibility through BuenasNoticias.org launched last month.
