Benedictine University Professor Jean-Marie Kauth, PhD, MPH, has entered into a book contract with Johns Hopkins University Press. This publishing house is recognized as the oldest university press in the United States and was founded at the first research university in 1878. It holds a distinguished reputation in the field of environmental health.

Dr. Kauth's forthcoming book, "Poisoning Children," is described as "the culmination of decades of work in science, humanities, and public health." The book poses an important question to its readers: "if we know we are literally poisoning our children and destroying the only climate that sustains life in the known universe, why are we not adopting the practical, affordable, do-able solutions to those problems?" Dr. Kauth expressed her excitement about working with her preferred publisher and invited people to follow her updates through her blog or Substack.

As she completes "Poisoning Children," Dr. Kauth will also be transitioning her long-running Environmental Tip of the Week series to Substack. For 16 years, these tips have been shared at Benedictine University. Her Substack platform will feature interviews with scientists, healthcare providers, activists, and families impacted by environmental issues. It will offer advice on protecting against environmental chemicals and discuss climate change effects while providing ideas for safeguarding human health and ecosystems.
