Major relics of Saint Thomas Aquinas will be accessible for prayer and veneration at Saint Patrick Church in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia. The relics will be available from December 15th to December 17th in the Upper Church.
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia invites the faithful to attend and seek the intercession of Saint Thomas Aquinas for their personal intentions and broader needs of the Church and the world.
Saint Thomas Aquinas, a Dominican friar and priest, is renowned as one of the Church’s greatest philosophers and theologians. He authored the Summa Theologiae and hymns for Corpus Christi. Canonized in 1323, he was named a Doctor of the Church in 1567. His feast day is January 28.
The schedule includes various ceremonies and prayers over three days:
On Sunday, December 15th, there will be a reception ceremony at 7:30 p.m., followed by night prayer at 9:00 p.m., with veneration continuing through the night.
Monday's schedule begins with Mass at 7:30 a.m., morning prayer at 8:15 a.m., another Mass at 12:05 p.m., rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 p.m., Office of Readings and Evening Prayer at 5:00 p.m., Angelic Warfare Confraternity Enrollment at 7:00 p.m., and night prayer again at 9:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, December 17th, events start with a Rorate Mass at 6:00 a.m., followed by Masses, morning prayer, daytime prayer until doors close at 1:00 p.m. Afterward, relics will be transported to Saints Philip and James Church in Baltimore.
