The Diocese of Brooklyn has announced the passing of Reverend Gerald J. Fitzsimmons, S.M.M., a priest with the Montfort Missionaries – U.S. Province. Father Fitzsimmons served as Pastor at Saint Mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park.

Father Fitzsimmons passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Funeral arrangements have been made for his wake and funeral mass. The wake will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel located at 1725 Brentwood Road, Brentwood, New York on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Reverend Monsignor Steven Aguggia encourages prayers "for the repose of his soul and for the consolation of his family and friends." Condolences can be sent to the Montfort Missionaries at their address in Bay Shore, New York.
