The opportunity to enhance scientific and commercial ties between the United States, Poland, and the European Union brought researchers and government officials together at St. John’s University in Manhattan on November 9. The event, a "Congress of the Council of Polish Engineers," aimed to foster consensus on research initiatives that could attract investment and boost economic growth in Poland.
Hosted by The Peter J. Tobin College of Business in collaboration with the Council of Polish Engineers in North America, the conference included 70 thought leaders, nine university presidents, administrators, and faculty from both US and Polish universities. Discussions centered around engineering research in business, global university profiles, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Ms. Mrówczyńska stated, “We are committed to promoting Polish science internationally through the commercialization of knowledge and implementing innovative products on the market. Science is the potential that drives the economy.”
The Council of Polish Engineers in North America seeks to elevate Polish engineers' profiles working in North America while promoting scientific cooperation globally. The St. John’s conference was part of a broader three-day event that also took place at the Consulate General of Poland and The Kosciuszko Foundation.
Focus at St. John’s was on strengthening existing US-Poland relationships while exploring new joint research opportunities. One project discussed was further development of the Poland in Silicon Valley Center business incubator in California.
Maciek Nowak, Ph.D., Dean at Tobin College said, “We were very excited to host this international conference that connected academic and government leaders across the US, Poland, and Canada.” He noted it as an opportunity for attendees to recommend building relationships between engineering and business which could influence policy.
