Christian Brothers University's Robotics Club, known as the Robotic Homies, is gaining attention on campus. Established in September 2024, the club is expanding through word of mouth.

Led by Dr. Peter (Phuc) Bui from the Engineering Technology Program, the club welcomes students from all majors and levels. Dr. Bui emphasized a practical approach: “We have decreased the emphasis on theory and increased the focus on hands-on experience,” he said. He noted that strong math skills are not necessary for success in both the program and club.

Robotics combines mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer science. As technology evolves, companies increasingly seek employees with robotics and automation expertise. Dr. Bui stated, “In industry today, most companies use robots and automatic machines to improve production and reduce costs.” He highlighted the demand for skilled workers in automation.

Currently focused on programming robotic arms, the club plans to work with small mobile robots next semester and aims to engage with larger robots for IEEE competitions next year.

For more information about CBU's Robotics Club, look for members wearing T-shirts with a robotic arm logo or follow their Instagram account @cburoboticclub. Dr. Bui encourages student participation and can be contacted at dbui@cbu.edu or at Nolan Engineering Center, Room 103.
