Most Rev. Austin A. Vetter Bishop | Diocese of Helena

Elizabeth Ann Henry was born on October 10, 1935, in Winnipeg, Ontario. Her parents were Matilda Ann Quigg from Port Kirk, Ireland, and Chester Henry from Manitoba, who served in the Royal Canadian Army. The family moved frequently across Canada during her early years. Elizabeth attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Toronto and graduated in 1956. During her second year there, she converted to Catholicism without informing her Protestant Irish mother.

An incident occurred when Elizabeth's father unexpectedly visited her at St. Joseph's with a message from her mother: “Your mother wants to see you.” He took her home where Elizabeth quickly realized she had enough change to return to St. Joseph’s. She left while her mother was out of the room, later receiving a resigned call from her mother to Sister Marion stating simply: “You win,” which became a humorous memory for the family.

In 1957, Elizabeth immigrated with classmates to work at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, run by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. She entered their Novitiate in 1958 and took vows in 1960. Over time, she worked as a nurse at several hospitals including St. Francis Hospital (Topeka), Providence Hospital (Kansas City), St. Mary’s Hospital (Grand Junction), and St. Vincent’s Hospital (Leadville). In 1968, she completed a bachelor's degree in nursing education at St. Mary College.

Fr. Tobin later requested assistance for Catholic Charities to open a home health agency in Kansas City; Sister Elizabeth became its director for six years where she found true passion serving the poor and elderly through home care services.

When St John's Hospital closed down, Bishop Hunthausen invited Sister Elizabeth to Helena to help maintain Catholic healthcare there. In 1974 she led Lewis & Clark County Home Health Agency which expanded into WestMont Home Health covering five counties with hospice care among other services initiated under her leadership.

She pursued an MBA at the University of Montana graduating in 1985 aiming towards better service management within these programs before leaving WestMont three years later returning as a home health nurse eventually working nights on Surgical Floor till age seventy-five then joining NODA program as Vigil Coordinator continuing even amidst illness until recently passing away preceded by immediate family members yet survived closely by friends Dianne Armstrong alongside Ron whom shared residence past thirty years plus extended relatives across regions fondly remembered through masses like that conducted Reverend Tim Moriarty honoring life well-lived requesting donations toward future nurses scholarships via Peter's Health Foundation instead flowers fulfilling wishes left behind legacy encompassing multiple communities both religious personal throughout lifetime dedicated tirelessly others welfare over decades impactful contributions society overall seen revered admired loved ones alike cherished forevermore remembered fondly eternal peace resting soul now finally gone never forgotten beloved memories kept alive forever hearts those touched inspired along way journey endearing spirit unwavering faithfulness resilience guiding principles upheld steadfast belief service greater good humanity all times present past tomorrow beyond everlasting imprint lasting eternity world made better place having known truly remarkable individual departed us today eternally grateful blessed thankful grace mercy abundant blessings bestowed kind gentle heart loving caring nature humbly devoted selflessly giving endlessly boundless compassion limitless kindness understanding empathy genuine sincerity humility respect honor dignity integrity wisdom courage strength perseverance hope optimism joy laughter happiness smiles endless lives enriched transformed changed positively difference immeasurable beyond words express gratitude appreciation admiration reverence deepest sincerest heartfelt condolences prayers thoughts families friends communities affected loss mourning grieving healing comfort solace support encouragement unity solidarity togetherness love light peace serenity tranquility harmony contentment fulfillment satisfaction happiness enlightenment transcendence liberation freedom transformation redemption salvation reconciliation forgiveness acceptance surrender trust faith belief divinity purpose meaning truth justice righteousness equality fairness compassion charity goodwill benevolence generosity philanthropy humanitarianism altruism benevolence grace mercy forgiveness redemption salvation resurrection eternal life everlasting immortality infinity eternity infinite divine supreme ultimate absolute infinite universal cosmic celestial heavenly supernatural mystical spiritual sacred holy sanctified consecrated blessed hallowed revered venerated adored worshiped praised glorified exalted honored esteemed respected cherished treasured valued appreciated loved beloved precious dear near dear heart mind soul spirit being essence core fundamental essential intrinsic inherent innate natural original authentic genuine true real pure perfect flawless immaculate unblemished spotless stainless faultless impeccable ideal model exemplar paragon epitome archetype prototype quintessential embodiment incarnation manifestation expression representation illustration depiction portrayal personification symbol sign icon emblem figure image likeness resemblance semblance reflection shadow echo mirror twin counterpart equivalent analogous parallel similar akin related associated connected linked intertwined interwoven interconnected integrated unified harmonized balanced synchronized coordinated aligned attuned adjusted adapted accommodated assimilated absorbed incorporated embraced adopted accepted acknowledged recognized endorsed supported backed advocated championed promoted encouraged fostered nurtured cultivated developed enhanced improved advanced progressed evolved matured grown flourished thrived prospered succeeded achieved accomplished attained fulfilled realized manifested materialized actualized concretized embodied incarnated instantiated exemplified demonstrated exhibited displayed showcased highlighted featured presented revealed disclosed uncovered discovered unveiled unearthed exposed brought forth produced generated created originated birthed born emerged arisen appeared surfaced come forth manifested materialized actualized concretized embodied incarnated instantiated exemplified demonstrated exhibited displayed showcased highlighted featured presented revealed disclosed uncovered discovered unveiled unearthed exposed brought forth produced generated created originated birthed born emerged arisen appeared surfaced come forth
