First-year students at St. John’s University participated in an ice cream social while learning about the Global Passport program, a study abroad opportunity tailored for incoming students. The initiative allows these students to "internationalize" their academic experience by taking a Global Passport-designated core course.

At the conclusion of either the fall or spring semester, participants travel with their professor and classmates to one of St. John's international locations in Paris, France, or Rome, Italy. They spend a week living and studying there, exploring sites and themes related to their coursework.

The program is designed to be financially accessible, with a subsidized fee set at $750 plus round-trip airfare costs.
