Sr. Josephine Garrett, a Catholic evangelist and author, will address the University of Dallas at its Commencement 2025 ceremony. A native of Texas, Sr. Garrett joined the Catholic Church after completing her bachelor's degree in politics with a business concentration from the University of Dallas. She spent ten years in banking before joining the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and took her final vows in 2020.

In 2023, Sr. Garrett was named a Catholic of the Year by Our Sunday Visitor for her podcast "Hope Stories" and her engaging public speaking skills. She holds a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is a certified counselor specializing in treating children and adolescents. Her written works include "Hope: An Invitation" and "Wilderness Within: A Guided Lent Journal for Prayer and Meditation."

Expressing her gratitude for being invited to speak at the commencement, Sr. Garrett said, “I am really without words to describe how honored I feel to have received this invitation, and I am also at a loss for words to describe the joy.” She added that she hopes to focus on what God has accomplished despite weaknesses rather than individual achievements.
