Franciscan University of Steubenville's Center for Criminal Justice, Law, and Ethics is offering continuing legal education courses this fall for law and justice professionals. The courses are designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants in various aspects of law and ethics.

One of the courses, "Ethical Foundations for Attorneys," will be conducted by Paul Boyles, a seasoned law enforcement lieutenant and visiting instructor at Franciscan University. Boyles will explore ethical systems and facilitate discussions on real-life ethical dilemmas. This course is scheduled for Friday, October 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Another course titled "Law, Ethics, and Religion in America" will be led by Kevin Govern. Govern has an extensive teaching background at institutions such as the United States Military Academy and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He will present a seminar focusing on the origins of law and relevant moral principles within the American legal system on Saturday, November 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Charles Nemeth will lead "Aquinas: Virtue, the Natural Law, and Modern Problems," where he will examine the connection between virtue and law through St. Thomas Aquinas's writings. Dr. Nemeth directs both Franciscan University's Criminal Justice Program and its Center for Criminal Justice, Law, and Ethics. This session is set for Friday, December 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The registration fee is $159 per course with approved continuing legal education credits available in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Discounts are offered for non-lawyers attending these sessions.

All three programs will take place on Franciscan University's campus in Steubenville.

Additionally, the center provides online video-based courses covering topics like natural law and happiness within the legal profession among others.
