Walsh University, in collaboration with Not For Sale: One Step At A Time, hosted the sixth annual Community Freedom Summit on September 28, 2024. The event featured keynote speeches from David Frattare of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Michael Wheeler from Patriot Software.

The summit commenced with the Red Sand Project, where participants poured red sand into sidewalk cracks to represent those who fall victim to human trafficking. Attendees also engaged in educational activities on East Maple Street and visited community partners at the Marketplace in the Cecchini Center. This year's participation was noted as the largest since the event began.

Keynote speakers highlighted the increasing role of technology in human trafficking and stressed the importance of vigilance to protect vulnerable populations online. Following these discussions, more than 800 attendees took part in a silent one-mile Freedom Walk around campus to reflect on victims' experiences. Additionally, over 400 Walsh University athletes participated in a separate walk due to scheduling conflicts.

The summit underscores Walsh University's dedication to combating human trafficking through education and advocacy efforts aimed at safeguarding human dignity.
